Established in 2016, our dynamic mentoring program teaches basketball excellence to youth aged 5 to 20, fostering skill development and a passion for the game, especially for those in need of a positive experience.

Damola Awosika (LL.B, B.L)
FOUNDER/GENERAL MANAGER

Damola Awosika (LL.B, B.L)
FOUNDER/GENERAL MANAGER
A former university and state captain for several years in the 80s with two call-ups grassroots to both junior and senior national teams. He won several laurels during his playing days.
Damola's grassroots development started in the UK where he raised a U9 football team named, Boxmoor Eagles at Hemel Hempstead, Herefordshire.
He has a strong passion for the game of basketball but most importantly, he is motivated by impacting youth and positively channeling their focus. Also, he is the current Vice Chairman of, the Oyo State Basketball Association.

Outside of work, he is passionate about the overall development of young people which informed his joining the Hoops initiative where he contributes to supporting the project in all forms necessary.
An avid reader and basketball enthusiast, Tony is married with children.

Walter is known for his hands-on approach, effective communication, and high emotional intelligence. His ability to connect with people and manage teams effectively has been a cornerstone of his career. In addition to his professional achievements, Walter has excellent organizational skills, enabling him to manage complex projects and tasks efficiently.
Currently, Walter dedicates his time to volunteering and training the basketball team at Loyola College in Ibadan, his alma mater. His commitment to giving back to his community and nurturing young talent reflects his passion for development and mentorship. Through his efforts, he continues to inspire and guide the next generation of basketball players and leaders.

Abimbola is also an alumna of the US Consulate's Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program.

Currently serving as the state head coach, Taye's expert guidance has led both male and female club sides to qualify for the national premier league, showcasing his exceptional coaching abilities and strategic acumen. His commitment to developing talent and achieving excellence has made a significant impact on the basketball community.
A graduate of the National Institute of Sports, Taye's educational background and extensive experience have equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his coaching career. His contributions to the sport and his unwavering dedication to mentoring young athletes continue to inspire and elevate the standard of basketball in the state.

Transitioning from player to official, Temitayo is now a registered basketball referee, bringing her extensive knowledge and passion for the game to the officiating side. Her commitment to youth development is evident in her work, where she actively contributes to nurturing the next generation of athletes.
Temitayo’s dual expertise as both a former player and current referee, combined with her educational background, makes her a valuable asset to the basketball community. Her dedication to promoting sports and youth development continues to inspire those around her.

With her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to youth development, Mimi continues to inspire and guide the next generation of athletes, promoting the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance through basketball.

Emmanuel Dayo

Dayo's impressive playing career includes stints with several prominent basketball clubs in Nigeria, such as Rivers Hoopers Basketball Academy in Port Harcourt, T-Joba Talent Basketball Club in Uyo, Oluyole Warriors Basketball Club in Ibadan, Kwara Falcons Basketball Club in Ilorin, and Camac Basketball Club in Warri. His exceptional skills on the court have earned him recognition as a two-time Nigerian Basketball League All-Star Player.
In addition to his athletic achievements, Emmanuel has attended and received certification from numerous coaching clinics, further enhancing his expertise in the field. His dedication to both his athletic career and his role as a fitness instructor underscores his commitment to promoting health, fitness, and excellence in sports.
Dayo Emmanuel is a graduate of Kinesiology and Sport Science and an experienced Nigeria premier league player since 2015. A multiple trophy and award winner, he has been a trainer and coach from the inception of Hoop Dreams, achieving significant success in various state and regional competitions.

Robinson has also played professional basketball across Nigeria and several clubs, notably with Oluyole Warriors Ibadan.
Rob, as he is fondly referred to is a passionate grassroots coach and a mentor with value for exceptional work ethics, integrity, and high professional standards. Rob enjoys collaborating with stakeholders to align mentorship and coaching objectives with a special focus on teaching fair play and societal morals.

An ardent lover of sports and an enthusiastic basketball player, Dr. Ayokole's passion for the game began during his schooling at Loyola College in Ibadan. This early interest in basketball has remained a constant throughout his life. He later furthered his education at the University of Ibadan, where he continued to cultivate his love for sports alongside his academic pursuits.
Dr. Ayokole is not only a dedicated physician but also a family man, happily married with children. His multifaceted career and personal life reflect his commitment to health, sports, and family.

In 2012, Ronke played a pivotal role in organizing successful baseball and softball clinics in Nigeria, partnering with U.S. coaches. The event attracted over 200 children and fifty coaches and included the donation of equipment worth thousands of dollars, significantly impacting the local sports community.
A long-time partner of Hoop Dreams Nigeria, Ronke has been instrumental in supporting its programs for many years. Her contributions include funding, equipment donations, and sponsorship of numerous tournaments, reflecting her unwavering commitment to youth development through sports.
An avid sports fan, Ronke has a rich athletic background. She represented the University of Ilorin in track and field and played soccer on both women's and co-ed teams until 2004. Her passion for sports continues to drive her efforts in promoting athletic opportunities for young people.

Funmi is deeply passionate about helping the less privileged, particularly through youth enrichment programs. Her dedication to humanitarian causes has led her to partner with various non-profit organizations in both the U.S. and Nigeria. She is the co-founder of "exceptwecare," a non-profit organization that supports the less privileged by collaborating with other entities for medical missions to Nigeria, raising funds for sickle cell awareness and finding cures, sponsoring children's education, and promoting sports to foster youth development.
Her commitment to community service extends to her active involvement with Hoop Dreams Nigeria, where she shares in their mission to uplift Nigerian youth through basketball. Funmi's work with Hoop Dreams and her extensive contributions to numerous charitable initiatives underscore her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
